Expedition 206 started in Madrid on January 1st, 2010, with three young adults who set out to visit all 206 countries where Coca-Cola is served and find out what makes people happy. They finished up their epic journey in Atlanta in late December.
Here is Kelly, Tony and Toño after they returned from their year-long adventure traveling the globe.
Freeworld recently helped Coca-Cola launch the 5 BY 20 program that will empower five million women entrepreneurs by the year 2020. Announced at the TED Women 2010 conference, 5 BY 20 was inspired by the thousands of women making an impact on their families and communities through their partnership with Coca-Cola.
“Anytime you have something like 5 BY 20, you always want to make sure an initiative is germane and organic to you already. And this initiative is something that is very organic to our system.” - Wendy Clark
In 2010, Coca-Cola is sending three ambassadors to visit the 206 countries where Coca-Cola is sold.
“This mash-up of social media – online photo galleries, video clips, blogs, microblogs, social networking – combined with an amazing journey, enthusiastic travelers and a theme of happiness is a great way for us to connect with people around the world,” said Adam Brown, director, Office of Digital Communications
and Social Media, The Coca-Cola Company. “The global adoption of social media has given us a way to deliver a year-long reality TV series without the TV.”
The journey begins January 1, 2010 in Madrid… stay tuned!
